Climate change/ climate justice and sustainable environment

Mountain Forum Himalayas (MFH) recognizes the urgent need to address the profound climate challenges facing the Himalayan regions of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. These areas are experiencing rapid environmental changes, including accelerated glacier melt, erratic weather patterns, and increased natural disasters, all of which disproportionately affect local communities that are already vulnerable due to socioeconomic factors. The resulting disruptions threaten agriculture, livelihoods, and the rich biodiversity that sustains both people and ecosystems. From a climate justice perspective, marginalized communities—who contribute the least to global emissions—suffer the most severe consequences. In response, MFH is committed to fostering sustainable practices and advocating for equitable climate action through community engagement, innovative adaptation strategies, and strong partnerships with local and governmental organizations. By integrating local knowledge and empowering communities, MFH aims to build resilience, promote sustainable development, and ensure that climate justice is central to all efforts in the region.
